Over the years, we’ve worked on countless ensuite bathroom renovations. And while we love all of our projects equally, there are some that just stand out above the rest. This gorgeous reno, for example, is one that our team is incredibly proud of! Let’s walk you through it and talk a little bit about what makes it so special.
The client had worked with Opal before, and came back as a repeat customer as she knew we were capable of providing her with the spa-like bathroom design idea she was looking for. The home is an older one with very traditional features. She wanted to keep some of these traditional features in place, while leaning towards more modern fixtures in other areas.
Modern Bathroom Design
When it came to the bathroom design, we came up with a transitional design by going with clean lines in the tiling and vanity, but still keeping some of the flare in the profiles of the plumbing fixtures.
The client was adamant that we created a spa-like feel to the space. We accomplished this with our colour palette (more on that later), by adding heated flooring, and by including a hot air tub to soak away the stress. Frosted glass in the custom shower remodel also helped create privacy and a softer overall look.
A Calm and Neutral Colour Palette
Our team of bathroom designers went with a warm and neutral colour palette. Not only did this match the ambiance of the rest of the house without standing out, but it was also in line with the calm/zen environment the client was looking for. Soft, warm neutrals from creams to beiges and browns were used throughout the tiling, vanities, accessories, and more. This helped tie the aesthetic together and bring the look to life.
A Touch of Glam
A brushed nickel finish was chosen for the fixtures, to again create a softer visual effect. The client also fell in love with some unique styled Brizo faucets, which allowed us to add some pizzazz to the space without overwhelming it. The faucets’ unique shape set the tone for the design and from there we chose ensuite bathroom accessories to match. We were lucky enough to find a chandelier which also had the same profile. This final touch almost felt like “jewellery” that added to the overall bathroom design.
Plenty of Storage Space
Storage space was also an absolute must, as the client wanted to keep the space clean and clutter-free. We designed a custom vanity with upper storage cabinets to do just this. We added pot lights in a valance to provide adequate lighting, without adding another light fixture to take away from the focal point of the bathtub.
Clean, Classic Flooring
For the tile floor, we choose the 24 x 24” tiles for a more clean-lined, modern element. The tiles themselves were beneficial as the size allowed for less grout. We didn’t have to worry about which direction to lay them, as they were all equal in size. This created a very classic effect, even though we were working on small ensuite bathroom renovation ideas.
At the end of the day, we accomplished everything we set out to do, and the client was thrilled with the finished product.
